Our Philosophy

Our definition of a consultant is someone who has the following key attributes:

Expertise: an in depth knowledge of different solutions, their pros and cons, both technically and from a business perspective.

Experience: the ability to draw on knowledge gained from numerous projects, over a long period of time, in different areas and apply this to help a business solve its problems successfully in a timely manner.

Independence: the ability to offer advice that is not tied to a supplier or a technology. If asked, we’re also happy to express our professional opinions about the ideas currently being proposed by our clients - but as we try to stay as objective as possible, it may not always be what you want to hear.

Knowledge Transfer: we believe that we should leave something behind - some of our experience and knowledge. A business usually benefits if it can get its staff to engage with their consultants and learn from them. You shouldn’t be hiring us to do exactly the same thing twice (unless of course you are short staffed).

Business Benefits: the bottom line is that consultants should make you money. It may not always seem that way, but the end goal is to better the business, whether that’s speeding up a process, providing better quality or making cost savings, it’s all about improving the bottom line, whether it be in the short, medium or long term.

Approachable: we like to develop the kind of relationship with our clients where if you need some advice you can pick up the phone and have a chat. We have built our reputation on repeat business and this only happens when a trusting and approachable relationship is in place. We want you to feel we are part of your team and are readily available.

Hands-On: it is our belief that consultancy needs to be hands-on. That consultants engaged on a project should be continually involved as close as possible to the ‘coal face’. Consultancy often gets bad press simply because the senior consultants are used to pitch for a job, and then once engaged go off to get the next job, leaving you an army of inexperienced juniors. This is not the way we work.

Honest: we like to be open and honest. If we don’t believe we have the particular skills you need, or can’t provide the solution you require (for example, it’s too large a project, or not our field of expertise) we will let you know straight away.

Communication: its essential that you understand exactly what we propose and what is undertaken. We speak and write in simple language and leave the buzz words to those having ‘thought showers’ and the like.
